Formed in
the mid 1990s, The Moloko Men are an Oi! band
based out of Visalia, CA. The band members were
influenced from many genres of music, but then
cultivated a sound all their own. The Moloko Men
followed the blueprint laid out by bands like
Condemned 84 and then incorporated an East Coast
hardcore blend, giving them a fast and
aggressive sound. The Moloko Men were also
heavily influenced by Stanley Kubrick s cult
classic film, A Clockwork Orange, incorporating
lyrics and bringing the occasional Nadsat
fashion of the film to the stage, much like
bands like Major Accident also did.
Member Adam Ament
had played drums in Fresno bands such as
Checkmate and Spider Besider (alongside of Brian
Dixon, who years later would be one of the
founding members of The Aggrolites). Tom Knox
did the song writing and played lead guitar,
while the others worked on lyrics and backing
vocals. The Moloko Men have released several
studio recordings on different labels over the
years. Taking a note of their friends The
Templars in NYC, The Moloko Men bought some
recording gear of their own and recorded a split
EP with Fresno’s Violent Drunks.
Pretty soon, the
band’s reputation preceded them. Neighbors
would call them “The Militia,” which the
band turned into the phrase “Moloko Militia,”
especially due to the band being avid gun
owners. The band and friends would meet up on
weekends for shooting and drinking just a few
miles from their rehearsal space on the
outskirts of town.
Can’t expect
anything less from a band named after “a bit
of the old ultra-violence.”
“Fast-paced and
aggressive album of very high quality. A record
that is perfect for drunken mayhem and for party
slam dancing.” –Us of Oi of Sweden,
